Abhishek Porel was born on October 17, 2002, in Chandannagar, West Bengal, India. He is mainly known for playing domestic cricket for the Bengal team and IPL franchise cricket for Delhi Capitals (DC) as a Wicketkeeper batsman player.
And he started playing domestic cricket in the year 2022 and IPL franchise cricket in the year 2023. He started playing cricket at a young age with his brother and friends in Chandannagar a small town in West Bengal.
At the age of five, he joined the National Sporting Club in Chandannagar where he trained under Pradip Mondal. He later joined Utpal Chatterjee’s coaching center at Deshbandhu Park, where he was trained alongside with his cousin Ishan Porel.
He is very fond of various sports and used to play sports like football and tennis, but his love for cricket made him pursue it professionally.
His father Somnath Porel is a former Kabaddi player and his mother Anima Porel is a housewife. Also, he has a cousin named Ishan Porel who is also a cricketer.

He was a back-up player for India Under-19 for the 2022 Under-19 World Cup held in West Indies.
On 17 February 2022, he made his Ranji (first-class) debut for Bengal against Baroda at Cuttack and helped his team to chase a target of 350 runs by scoring his first fifty with 53 runs in the second innings.
Porel played only 16 First-class cricket matches so far, in which he scored 695 runs with the help of 6 half-centuries.
He scored 20 runs off 14 balls at a strike rate of 142.85 during his T20 debut on 14 October 2022 for Bengal against Odisha in the 2022 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
Porel made his List A debut for Bengal against Puducherry in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 17th November 2022. He has got the chance to play only 3 List A cricket matches so far, in which he scored 54 runs with his bat.
On 31st March 2023, he was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 20 Lakh as a replacement player for Rishabh Pant for the 2023 Indian Premier League.
