Ayush grew up watching his father play cricket and dreamed of becoming a cricketer himself. He began his journey to become a cricketer at the age of nine. 

According to his coach, Balraj Kumar, “Ayush plays nearly 1,000 balls per day, and even after such intense practice, he still works on his bowling skills.” Balraj had taught him the fundamentals of professional cricket, and when Ayush reached the age of 15, Tarak Sinha took over to further train him. 

Ayush was given the opportunity to play in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where he excelled, earning him a spot on the Indian Under-19 team.

Ayush made his Under-19 debut against Sri Lanka, scoring 185 runs off 205 balls and taking four wickets. On January 11, 2021, he made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21, where he took 2 wickets in 18 matches and scored 169 runs with one half-century, 12 fours, and 7 sixes. 

“The Delhi selectors did not give me a chance to play for the team, which could have ended my cricketing career,” Ayush says. “But, fortunately, Gautam Gambhir gave me a chance to play in the IPL.”
