Finn Allen, whose full name is Finnley Hugh Allen, is a New Zealand international cricketer who has played for the New Zealand cricket team since March 2021. He is an exceptional right-hand aggressive batsman and right-arm off-break bowler.

He mostly opens for the New Zealand cricket team in limited-overs cricket. He was born on 22 April 1999 in Auckland. He made his ODI debut for New Zealand against Ireland in July 2022 and his T20 debut against Bangladesh in March 2021.
He also played domestic cricket for Auckland and previously for Wellington, and currently, he plays in a variety of T20 franchise leagues.

Finn Allen Cricket Career

On 3 January 2017, Allen made his T20 debut for Auckland in the 2016-17 Super Smash. Before his T20 debut, he was named in New Zealand’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
He made his List A debut for Auckland in the 2017-18 Ford Trophy on 17 February 2018, and his first-class debut for Auckland in the 2017–18 Plunket Shield season on 9 March 2018.
He captained New Zealand’s team in the 2018 edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he had a brilliant start to the tournament as he smashed 115 runs against the West Indies, attracting all of us from all over the world.
In the second match of the tournament, he scored the second-fastest fifty in just 18 balls. He emerged as a top run-scorer in the tournament for New Zealand with 338 runs at an average of 67 and having a strike rate of 120, which stands out as the fourth highest among all teams.

In September 2018, he was added to the Auckland Aces squad for the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. In November 2019, in a tour match for the New Zealand XI against England, Allen scored an unbeaten century.
He earned praises from the cricket fraternity and came into the limelight after performing exceptionally well in the 2020-21 Dream11 Super Smash tournament. While representing Wellington Firebirds in the tournament, he scored 512 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 193, and is the highest run scorer among all players in the tournament.

His eye-catching performances in the 2020-21 Dream11 Super Smash tournament opened the door for his selection in the New Zealand cricket team, as he was selected in New Zealand’s squad for three match t20-series against Bangladesh.
Finn had the worst possible start to his international career as he failed to bother scorers and was dismissed on a golden duck. He showed his classy and powerful batting in the third t20 match where he scored 71 runs off 29 balls.
In that innings, he reached the 50-run mark in just 18 balls and recorded the second-fastest fifty in 18 balls for New Zealand. After this in March 2021, he was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore as Josh Philippe’s replacement for the 2021 Indian Premier League.
In June 2022, Allen was named in New Zealand’s ODI squads for their tours of Ireland and Scotland. He made his ODI debut on 10 July 2022, for New Zealand against Ireland. On 27 July, in New Zealand’s first match against Scotland, Allen scored his first century in T20I cricket.
In August 2024, he signed a two-year deal with Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League ahead of the 2024-2025 season. He started off the tournament with a disappointing single-digit score, and then in the middle phase of the tournament,t he regained his form and scored a couple of fifties.
In June 2025, while playing for San Francisco Unicorns in the Major Cricket League in their first match, Allen hit a record-breaking 151 off 52 balls against Washington Freedom. He hit the fastest century in MLC to date.

In January 2024, Allen scored 173 runs off 62 balls against Pakistan, breaking Brendon McCullum’s record for the highest T20I score by a New Zealand player. With 16 sixes in that innings, he also equaled Afghan batter Hazratullah Zazai’s record for most sixes by a player in an innings.
In May 2024, he was named in New Zealand’s T20 squad for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In August 2024, he declined a New Zealand Cricket central contract to pursue international franchise cricket.
