Mithali Raj is a former Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian women’s team. She is one the best Indian women cricketer who took cricket to new heights in the women’s field. She is still the highest run scorer in the Women’s ODI with 7805 runs.

Mithali Raj was born on December 3, 1982, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. She is a right-handed batsman and a capable bowler with a right-arm leg-break style. She was an exceptional batter and she holds the record of scoring the most runs in women’s cricket in ODI format. She is the only cricketer who has 7000+ runs in the ODI format. She also has the most number of fifties in Women’s ODI.
She has a cricketing career of more than 20 years and she captained Team India from 2004 to 2022. She’s not much active on-field but she’s always there in off-field. Mithali Raj began playing cricket when she was ten years old. She began playing cricket at her elementary school in Telangana with her elder brother.
She later played domestic cricket for Indian Railways and later made her debut for the Indian cricket team in 1999 against Ireland in the ODI format. She smashed 114 runs in that game and remains not out throughout the game.
She made her test debut in 2001 against South Africa.
She captained team India in the 2005 women’s World Cup and led her team to the finals, but unfortunately, they lost the finals against Australia. She’s the only captain(Men/Women) who led team India to the ODI finals twice.
Mithali Raj was awarded with Arjuna Award in 2003.
In the 2003 World Cup, Mithali Raj was the number 1 woman cricketer in ODI. She has 7 centuries, and 64 half-centuries in ODI format with the highest score of 125 runs. She played 232 matches and scored 7805 runs in ODI which is the most by any women cricketer in ODI. Her record is still there for scoring most runs in Women’s ODI. Apart from that, she took 8 wickets in ODI’s as well.
She became the first woman to score 6000 runs in ODI format in July 2017. She surpassed England’s former captain Charlotte Edwards to attain this title. She led the Indian team in the 2017 ODi finals as well against England, which unfortunately they lost by 9 runs.
She scored 409 runs in that tournament with 3 crucial fifties which played a major role in qualifying finals in 2017 against England.
She took retirement from T20 format in September 2019.
She completed 20 years of cricketing career in October 2019 at the age of 36.
She announced her retirement from all forms of cricket on 8th June 2022.
