Early Life of Pooja Vastrakar
Vastrakar was fond of playing cricket, she started playing cricket at an early age with the boys near her neighborhood in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. She later started going to the stadium and practiced net batting where the coach Ashutosh Shrivastava realized her talent and began her formal training.
She began her career as a batter and later, upon joining the Madhya Pradesh team, she added fast bowling to her skill set. At the age of 15, she was a member of the India Green Women squad.
In 2016, during a senior women’s domestic match, Vastrakar twisted her knee while fielding. This injury resulted in her undergoing surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament tear, jeopardizing her National Call-Up.

The Challenger Trophy in 2018 played a pivotal role in Vastrakar’s selection for India’s South Africa tour.
She made her Women’s One Day International (WODI) debut for India Women on 10 February 2018 against South Africa Women.
She made her Women’s T20 International debut for India Women on 13 February 2018 against South Africa Women.
In October 2018, he was added to the India Women’s Squad for the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup tournament in West Indies. However, she suffered an injury during the warm-up match and unluckily later she was ruled out of the tournament.
In January 2020, she was named in India’s women’s squad for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
In May 2021, she was added to India’s women’s test squad for their one-off match against England Women’s cricket team, and then she made her test debut on 16 June 2021, for India against England.
She was named in India’s team for the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in January 2022 where she scored 156 runs with an average of 26.00 and took 10 wickets with an average of 18.30 in the tournament.
In July 2022, she was added to India’s team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
In Just her second ODI against Australia, scored half a century hitting 51 off 56 balls in Vadodara. She played a crucial knock of 30 off 33 in the next match against Australia, along with impressing with her bowling variations.

Pooja Vastrakar played for the Mumbai Indians team in this year’s Women’s Premier League 2024 (WPL 2024) and Mumbai Indians franchise bought Pooja Vastrakar for Rs 1.9 crore for WPL 2024.
