Shubman Gill began playing cricket when he was nine years old. He began playing cricket at a local academy in Fazilka, where a coach named Sukhwinder Singh noticed him. Sukhwinder saw Shubman’s potential and suggested that he join the PCA (Punjab Cricket Association) Academy in Mohali.
Shubman joined the PCA Academy in 2010 and quickly established himself. Because of his prodigious run-scoring in the junior circuit, the Indian selectors soon became interested in him. He was chosen to play for India in the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.
