Timothy Hays David is professionally known as Tim David, is a Singaporean and Australian cricketer. He played for the Singapore national cricket team between 2019 and 2020, before moving to Australia in 2022. He was part of the Australian squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Currently, he plays T20 cricket for various cricket franchises. He made his international T20 debut for Singapore in July 2019 and played 14 T20Is, making his debut for Australia in 2022 against India. He also played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.

Early Life & Family
Tim David was born on 16 March 1996 in Singapore and raised in Perth, Australia. His father, Rod David, is an Australian origin, relocated to Singapore in the 1990s to work as an engineer. His father is also a cricketer who played for Singapore at the 1997 ICC Trophy.

They moved back to Australia when he was 2 years old in the wake of the Asian financial crisis in 1997. He is married to Stephanie Kershaw, who is an Australian field Hockey player. His mother housewife, and her name is not known.
In his childhood, Tim David often visited Creswall Park and Belvista Oval cricket grounds with his father, where his father played Fourth Grade cricket for Claremount Nedlands Cricket Club (CNCC).

Apart from this, his father was also the head of the local MILO Have-a-go youth cricket program. Watching his father play cricket, he was inspired too and became a part of the Clearemount Nedlands Cricket Club’s (CNCC) Under-10 team when he was just 8 years old.

Sports Career of Tim David
Tim David started playing cricket in the age-group tournaments with players like Joel Paris, Matt Kelly, Will Bosisto, and Durham opener Cameron Steel.
Unlike many of his companions who started playing first-class cricket for state teams and even the national side at a young age, David kept playing second-grade cricket for CNCC for several years.
In 2018, he signed a contract with Western Australia and played for Western Australia Under-23 and Western Australia XI teams; however, he never got an opportunity to play as a senior player.
Domestic & Franchise T20 Career
Big Bash League:
On 1 January 2018, David made his T20 debut for the Perth Scorchers in the 2017-18 Big Bash League. In the 2020-21 BBL season, he was signed by the Hobart Hurricanes, where he scored 58 runs for Hobart, beating the Sydney Sixers by 16 runs, and was named the player of the match.He received his first break in 2018, when an injury hit, Perth Scorchers added him in the squad to play against Sydney Sixers, where he scored 17 off 10 balls, helping them to chase 168.

Subsequently, he played two more games for Perth Scorchers that season, scoring 16 off 13 and 3 off 5 balls.
After the beginning of 2020, Tim David played for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League after a hiatus of around two years. However, he had an unforgettable season, playing six matches and averaging 14.6, failing to pass 20 even once.
In the next year, in February 2021, he signed a two-year extension to his BBL contract with Hobart Hurricanes, and made his head turn in his very first match of the tournament.
In the 2020-21 BBL season, he was signed by the Hobart Hurricanes, where he scored 58 runs for Hobart, featuring 9 boundaries, beating the Sydney Sixers by 16 runs, and was named the player of the match.

Keeping up the pace, Tim David scored 21* off 13, 24 off 15, 21* off 12, 36 off 17 in the next five matches of the tournament. He ended the BBL season with 279 runs at a strike rate of 153.29.
Pakistan Super League:
In May 2021, in the PSL mini replacement draft for the remainder of the postponed 2021 Pakistan Super League, David was signed by Lahore Qalandars as a replacement for Joe Burns.

In the first match of the tournament, David scored an unbeaten 23 off 15 against Islamabad United. In Lahore Qalandar’s match against Peshawar Zalmi, Tim played a brilliant innings of unbeaten 64 rund from 36 balls, with five sixes.
He amassed 180 runs at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 166.66 in the tournament.
In the next season of the PSL draft, he was signed by the reigning champions, Multan Sultans. He was retained by the Sultans for the following year.

In the 2022 edition of the PSL, Tim was acquired by Multan Sultans. He amassed 278 runs at a strike rate of 194.40, hitting the most sixes in the PSL 2022 season (21 sixes).
Europe:
In July 2021, David appeared in the Hoofdklasse tournament in the Netherlands. After playing in the Dutch league, he signed with Surrey County Cricket Club to play in the side’s final two matches of the 2021 T20 Blast in England.
The following month, he played for Surrey in the 2021 Royal London One-Day Cup, where he smashed his first List A century with an unbeaten 140 runs off 70 balls, including 11 sixes against Warwickshire. In the quarter-finals of the tournament, he scored 102 as Surrey beat Gloucestershire by 5 wickets.
He scored 340 runs in 8 matches during the tournament with a strike rate of 150.44, becoming the second-highest run getter for Surrey.

In 2021, he was drafted by the Southern Brave for the inaugural season of The Hundred. In the season’s final match, David scored 15 runs off balls, took a catch, and effected a crucial run out of Liam Livingstone, and led Bravery to victory.
Caribbean Premier League (CPL):
He further elevated his brilliance with his impressive performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021. Played for Saint Lucia Kings in the tournament and scored 282 runs at a strike rate of 146.11, becoming the third-highest run getter in the competition.

Indian Premier League (IPL):

In August 2021, David was included in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad for the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE. He made his IPL debut against the Chennai Super Kings on 24 September 2021. With this, he became the only Singapore player to play in the IPL.
In February 2022, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the 2022 Indian Premier League auction at a bold bidding price of INR 8.25 crore, and has been with MI till IPL 2024.
Although a pair of innings failures at the beginning of the IPL season 2022 for Mumbai inexplicably dropped David, he gave excellent performances towards the end with scores 20*, 44*, 16*, 46, and 34. Ending the season with a strike rate of 216.28.
Tim established a record for the highest strike rate for a batter in a single IPL season (min 150 runs). Tim David was again bought by RCB in the 2025 mega auction.

After this, David featured in the Vitality Blast 2022 season in which he represented Lancashire Lightning. He smashed 405 runs in the tournament at a strike rate of 174.56, smashing 27 sixes.
International Career
In July 2019, David was added to the training squad for the Singapore Cricket team ahead of the Regional Finals of the 2018-19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier tournament.
Later in the following month, he was added to Singapore’s T20 international squad for the Regional Finals of the tournament. He made his T20 debut for Singapore against Qatar on 22 July 2019.
In September 2019, he was named in Singapore’s squad for the 2019 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament. He made his List A debut against Qatar in the Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament on 17 September 2019.
He was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 369 runs in 5 matches. In October 2019, he was named in Singapore’s squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
Ahead of the tournament, ICC named him as the player to watch in Singapore’s squad.

In 2022, Tim David was added to the Australian national cricket team’s squad for the 2022 World Cup and their series against India. Under the ICC Rules, he was deemed eligible to play for Australia despite having previously played for Singapore.
He made his T20I debut for Australia against India on 20 September 2022, where he hit 54 runs off 27 balls in Hyderabad against India in the third match of the series.
In May 2024, he was named in the Australia squad for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament. On 25 July 2025, David scored his first T20I century against West Indies, smashing 102* off 37 deliveries with the help of 11 sixes and 6 fours, and holds the record for the joint third-fastest T20I century.
