Yash Thakur is an Indian cricketer. He plays for Vidarbha in domestic cricket and Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. He is an excellent and brilliant bowler who presented his skills when on 8 December 2021, on the opening day of the 2021–22 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Thakur took his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for 45 lakhs in the player’s auction ahead of the 2023 IPL and made his IPL debut on 3 April 2023 against Chennai Super Kings.

Yash Thakur Early Life
Yash Thakur is an Indian cricketer. He is a right-hand medium-fast bowler and a batsman. He started his cricket career in the early age of 12. He reveals that India’s victory in the 2011 World Cup inspired him to be a professional cricketer.
Although he played some age-group-level cricket before 2011, India’s performance deeply inspired him and made him enroll at a professional coaching center. In 2011, he joined the Pravin Hinganikar Cricket Academy (PHCA) in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Initially, he started his career in batting over bowling and played as a batter in some of underage tournaments. However, he realized his potential for bowling and shifted his focus to develop himself as a bowler at the PHCA academy under the guidance of coaches, Pravin Hinganikar and Nitin Kanhere.
Yash Thakur was an ardent fan of the former Indian captain MS Dhoni and followed his footsteps and started playing cricket as a wicket-keeper batter. Yash’s first coach, Pravin Hinganikar suggested him to switch from wicket-keeping to fast bowling.

Yash Thakur Cricket Career
In 2013, he was added to the Chattisgarh Under-16 team for the 2013-2014 season of the Vijay Merchant Trophy. On 1 December 2013, he was named to the playing eleven of the Chattisgarh Under-16 team against Rajasthan Under-16 in the opening match and scored 16 runs in both innings.
He was the part of Chattisgarh Under-16 team for their group-stage match against Madhya Pradesh Under-16 and scored three runs in two innings, this was his final appearance in the 2013-2014 Vijay Merchant Trophy.
In 2015, Yash was named to the Chattisgarh Under-16 team for the 2015-2016 season of the Cooch Bihar Trophy.
Yash was dismissed on a duck in the first innings against the Himachal Pradesh Under-19 team on 5 November 2015, he was only able to score 1 run.
He made his List A debut for Vidarbha in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017 and made his first-class debut for Vidarbha in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 28 November 2018.
On 14 November 2015, he scored eight runs against the Maharashtra Undre-19 team in the league match of the Cooch Bihar Trophy the cricketer scored 73 runs not out of 161 balls in the second innings.
Yash was named to the playing eleven against the Rajasthan Under-19 team on 5 December 2015. He only managed to score one run in the first innings. However, he went on to score 99 runs from 174 balls in the second innings.

Later, Yash was added to the squad of the India Under-19 team for the 2016-2017 Asian-Cricket Council Under-19 Asia Cup.
On 15 November 2016, he made his ODI debut against the Malaysia Under-19 team and took two wickets from five overs at an economy of 3.80.
In the next two matches, he took one wicket against the Nepal Under-19 team and clinched two wickets against the Afghanistan Under-19 team in the Semi-final match of the tournament.
On 23 December 2016, in the tournament final match against Sri Lanka, he took one wicket and dismissed PAKP jayawickrama through a runout, but he did not bat in any matches of the tournament.
In 2017, he was named to the India Under-19 team for the England Under-19 team tour of India. On 30 January 2017, he scored 14 runs and bowled eight overs at an economy of 6.38.
Yash took one wicket from eight overs at an economy of 5.62 and scored 30 runs from 52 balls against the England Under-19 team on 8 February 2017.
He made his List A debut on 25 February 2017 for Vidarbha against Punjab in the 2016-2017 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy where he scored one run and bowled 5.1 overs at an economy of 7.74.
The cricketer took a three-wicket haul from 8.4 overs at an economy of 7.38 against Baroda on 26 February 2017, this was his best bowling figure of the season.
