Early Life

Yashasvi Jaiswal Early Life

Jaiswal was born on 28 December 2001 in Suriyawan, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, as the fourth of six children, to his father Bhupendra Jaiswal. He is one of the youngest Indian star batsmen.

At the early age of 10 Jaiswal moved to Mumbai to receive cricket training at Azad Maidan.

He struggled very hard in his cricketing career as he was initially given accommodation in a dairy shop in return for work but was evicted by the shopkeeper as he was unable to work frequently.

As a result, he lived in a tent with the groundsmen at the Maidan, where he sold panipuri to make ends meet.

After living in tents for three years, Jaiswal’s cricketing potential and talent were spotted on Jwala Singh in December 2013 who ran a cricket academy in Santacruz.

He provided Jaisawal with a place to stay, before becoming his legal guardian and obtaining his power of attorney.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is from Suriyawan, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. He is the fourth of six children, to Bhupendra Jaiswal, who is the owner of a small hardware store. His mother Kanchan Jaiswal is a housewife.

Jaiswal belongs to a financially weak family because his father used to run a small hardware store, and wasn’t able to make ends meet.

So he did not complete his studies after looking at his family condition. He used to move to Mumbai at the early age of 10 for his cricket training at his uncle’s home.

After growing cricket interest and enthusiasm at the age of nearly 11, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his dream of playing for the Indian Cricket Team.

As he moved to his only known uncle’s house which he had hardly known in his childhood.

Thereafter his uncle helped him secure a place in the Muslim United Cricket Club in Azad Maidan, Mumbai.

Jaiswal first came to prominence in 2015 when he scored 319 not out and took 13/99 in a Giles Shield match, an all-round record in school cricket in India.

He was selected for the Mumbai under-16 squad and later the India national under-19 cricket team in the same year.

In 2018 Jaiswal Scored 318 runs and got player of the tournament at the 2018 Under-19 Asia Cup which India won.

In 2019 Jaiswal achieved a score of 173 runs from 220 balls during a Youth Test match against South Africa under-19s.

In the same year, he smashed 294 runs including 4 half-centuries in tri-series which were held in England. later in December 2019, he earned a spot for the Under-19 cricket World Cup.

Jaiswal made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 7 January 2019, and his List A debut on 28 September 2019 in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He scored 203 runs in 154 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Jharkhand on 16th Oct 2019 and became the youngest double Centurian in the history of List A cricket.

He was bought by the Rajasthan Royals and made his Twenty20 cricket debut for the side on 22 September 2020 in the IPL 2020 auction.

He made his maiden half-century against Chennai Super Kings on 2nd Oct 2021, and his maiden T20 century on 30 April 2023, scoring 124 from 62 balls against Mumbai Indians. On 11 May 2023, he hit the fastest IPL half-century in just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Jaiswal made his test debut against West Indies in June 2023. He made his debut in the first Test of the series, scoring a century and opening the batting with a score of 171 runs.

He made his T20I debut in the 3rd match of the T20I series against West Indies in August 2023, where he scored his maiden T20I half-century–84* off 51 balls.
