The Asia Cup, Asia’s premier cricket competition, has seen some epic battles between the cricketing giants since its inception in 1984.

1984 Asia Cup, UAE: India’s victory in both of their games at the 1984 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates demonstrated their dominance in the competition. With one victory, Sri Lanka was able to take second place, while Pakistan lost both of their games and came in third.

1986 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: In the final, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by a margin of five wickets to win the 1986 Asia Cup. India did not take part in the 1986 Asia Cup.

1988 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: India won the tournament by defeating Sri Lanka by a score of 6 wickets in the decisive game.

1990 Asia Cup, India: India won the tournament by defeating Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. Pakistan was not a participant in this tournament.

1995 Asia Cup, UAE: India defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the championship game to win the Asia Cup for the third time in a row.

1997 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka won their second championship by defeating India in the final by an 8-wicket margin. 

2000 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: Pakistan won the 2000 Asia Cup in Bangladesh after defeating Sri Lanka by a score of 39 runs in the championship game.

2004 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka won the tournament after defeating India by 25 runs in the final match.

2008 Asia Cup, Pakistan: Sri Lanka won the tournament by defeating India by a score of 100 runs in the final match.

2010 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: India won the tournament after defeating Sri Lanka by 81 runs in the final match.

2012 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: Pakistan won the tournament with a two-run victory over Bangladesh in the final match. India failed to qualify for the final.

2014 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: Sri Lanka won the tournament by defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final match.

2016 Asia Cup, Bangladesh (T20 format): India won the Asia Cup by defeating Bangladesh in the final match by an innings and eight wickets.

2018 Asia Cup, UAE: India won the tournament after defeating Bangladesh by three wickets in the final.

2022 Asia Cup, UAE: Sri Lanka won the championship after defeating Pakistan in the final match.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the 16th time. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal will compete in the tournament. 

The tournament will follow a hybrid format, with four matches taking place in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches in Sri Lanka. The first four games will take place in Pakistan’s Lahore, while the final nine games will take place in Sri Lanka’s Colombo, Kandy, and Hambantota.
