The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the Duleep Trophy 2025 will kick off from 28 August 2025, heralding the start of India’s domestic red-ball season. One of the country’s most prestigious cricket tournaments, it has been a vital stepping stone for players aspiring to don the national colours ever since its inception in 1961-62.

Named after cricket legend Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, from Nawanagar, the tournament format has evolved, but its significance has remained unwavering, offering high practice match intensity, a platform to impress national selectors, and a stage to showcase the vast depth of cricketing talent from across the nation.
Returning to its six-team zonal format for the 2025-26 season after last using it in 2023-24, the competition will feature North, South, East, West, Central, and North East Zones.
This year the actions shifts to the BCCI’s new Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, where top stars like India’s Test Captain, Shubhman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh will joined by experinced names such as Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami all eager ot make a statement.
Beyond it’s rich tradition, thr Duleep Trophy continues to unite established names with emerging states and talents fostering the games growth and serving as the perfect launchpad for the season ahead.

Duleep Trophy Points Table & Format
In the previous season, it follows a roud-robin format. However, return to the zonal format marks the comback of knockouts. The finalists of the previous zonal edition (2023), South Zone, and West Zone will directly play the semifinals.
The other four teams, Central, East, North and NorthEast, will play the quarterfinal round.
