Lionel Messi has listed Premier League Clubs who are strong contenders for this season’s UEFA Champions League title.
The Super Striker has warned his new teammates at Paris Saint-Germain, that they cannot rely on individual brilliance in their pursuit to win the UEFA League title.
PSG have come up short in Europe’s most prestigious club competition in recent seasons, despite the almost unprecedented backing of their Qatari owners.
They however made an impression a fortnight ago when they defeated last season’s beaten finalists, Manchester City, 2-0 at Parc des Princes in a game which saw Messi score his first goal for his new club.
Messi acknowledged that there are a number of teams capable of threatening them from winning the title, which he went on to name the Premier League clubs he sees as real contenders.
According to the striker, “It is everyone’s dream to win the Champions League. ‘The club has been working towards this goal for a few years and lately it has been close. Messi told L’Equipe.
“From a personal point of view it is the same, I would love to win the Champions League, as I said when I was still in Barcelona.
“It is a very good, very difficult competition to win, but I think this group of players has the weapons to win this title.
“It is true that the center of attention is on PSG, but there are other very strong teams, such as Chelsea, the Manchester teams (United and City), Real Madrid, who always responds, Inter Milan, Bayern.
He went further to say: “They are all great teams. We have great individuals, but we still have to know each other well to form a team. To win important titles you have to play as a team.
“That is what makes me say that we are still one step back compared to all these clubs , who have more collective experience than us.”
